Battle of the Clubs 2016 by Garena Malaysia

On the 28th of August 2016 at University Tunku Abdul Rahman (Sg.Long Campus), I had
the awesome chance to host and cast the varsity level tournament Battle of the Clubs which was organized by Garena Malaysia and the eSports club of University Tunku Abdul Rahman.
The setup for the multi-purpose hall was dope! Special thanks to MSI for providing the gaming laptops, Zoey by BenQ for providing the monitors and SADES Malaysia for providing the gaming periphals. Some high end gear for high end varsity
level players!
The atmosphere was rather dry to begin with, early morning drag felt by everyone on site (we need an official coffee vendor is what we need!) but it was only a matter of time before
the game was booted up and the crowd woke up a lil’ bit as they got behind their respectiveteams!
So here's a quick recap of what went down throughout the day;
A total of 6 teams from 6 differing colleges signed up for the Battle of the Clubs
and these were the participating teams;
Sunway eSports Club (Sunway University)
QWERTYUIOP (UTAR)
Titanium Logic (UCSI)
Team OP (UNIKL)
Lolicon Boss ( Tunku Abdul Rahman UC)
Nyohsu (IIUM/UIA)
The competition was stiff and tensions were high amongst the teams as they competed for a prize pool of more than RM 5,000! In terms of the games, there were some obvious
discrepancies of skill as we saw some teams with Challenger tier players and teams with
Bronze and Silver tier players. Mechanically however, there were no super crazy plays to
mention but there was a Pentakill on the side of Sunway eSports Club as they stomped
QWERTYUIOP from UTAR rather dominantly with good plays and rotations.
The dominant trend ended when they faced off against Lolicon Boss from TARUC! Some
rather early rotations and aggressive ganks seemed to put some members of the Sunway
eSports Club on tilt! Lolicon Boss proved the better team as they went on to win 2-0
in the best of three finals against Sunway eSports Club.
All in all, it was a fun rather subdued event, although the number of viewers were not as
big as the ROG event at Sunway Pyramid a few months back but the community present
was a loud and passionate bunch!
I had fun casting the games with “Camou” anda special thanks again to MSI, Zoey by BenQ,
SADES Malaysia and UTAR eSports Club!
