5 New Concepts MIMMA 4 Should Adopt

So with Season 4 of Malaysian Invasion hitting us hard soon, I just thought I'd share my opinion on what new kinda crazy them people at MIMMA can give us! This is just my personal opinion and all sources (pictures and media) belong to Malaysian Invasion.

1) Ranking System

Why do we need Rankings?

Remember Dhiaaul Amal? The fighter who faced off against Season 3 winner Zhang Yu for the Flyweight title belt? Well, when season 4 starts he will have to start from the bottom of the pit and for alot of people, it can be very tedious. Imagine having to fight from Ladder Match against the same opponents from the previous season up until Finals.

How will rankings change MIMMA 4?

With a proper ranking system, fighters will be even more motivated to compete; not only to fight for the title but for their spot on the list. Rankings also allow for better match-ups and relevant fights outside of Title fights. That way, champions and their subsequent contenders are always given fights that will either push them closer to the belt or higher in the rankings.

2) Strawweight (52 kg/115 lbs) Men's & Women's Division

Why do we need a Strawweight Division?

Adding a new division into the mix adds a new layer of competition, it also opens up the chance for current Flyweight champion Zhang Yu to cut down to 52 kg/ 115 lbs and be Malaysia's first multi-division champion.

How will the Strawweight Division change MIMMA 4?

Aside from the aforementioned layer of competition and the possibility of having a champion in two different weight divisions. The strawweight category will also give a platform for the more speedy and agile inclined to join and also former Flyweights from past season are given new life in this new division.

3) Foreign Pride Redux

Why do we need Foreign Pride Redux?

Season 3 of MIMMA brought upon us the new "Foreign Pride" category whereby foreigners (those who don't possess a Malaysia Passport or PR) may participate against other foreigners as well. Although an awesome concept, it was marred with no clear weight categories and a shallow pool of competitors.

How will Foreign Pride Redux change MIMMA 4?

Fixing up the shortcomings of the Foreign Pride category will attract international attention towards MIMMA and also allows foreigners to do their country proud by giving them a platform to showcase their skills for their respective countries. It also opens up room for foreign interests to come to Malaysia to compete or develop martial arts.

4) MIMMA Professional Edition

Why we need MIMMA Professional Edition?

Jon Nutt once said that "MIMMA is the best grassroots MMA show on the face of the Earth" and I agree to that statement. Adding more professional fights adds a dynamic level of excitement as fight fans both casual and hardcore have something to look forwards to as the hype for finals builds up

How will MIMMA Professional Edition change MIMMA 4?

With a professional edition of MIMMA, we will be able to see the progress of our local Amateur heroes (think Agilan Thani and Keanu Subba) as they progress towards turning Pro. This gives fan the opportunity to see their favourite fighters career develop and also opens each fighter up to the possibility of competing on the international circuit.

5) Malaysian Invasion ; Malaysia vs The World

Why we need Malaysian Invasion ; Malaysia vs The World?

With it's 4th season just over the horizon, MIMMA has done wonders to boost up the level of quality for MMA competition in Malaysia, although their current tournament is only for Malaysians it would be interesting to see how Malaysian fighters fare with foreign talent and the increase in competition level.

How will Malaysian Invasion ; Malaysia vs The World change MIMMA 4?

Dissolving the foreign pride division and opening up the tournament to non-Malaysians will force our local fighters to up their game in preparations for their foreign opponents, because some of these participants will come from countries that are more "combat cultured" (Phillipines, Brazil....etc) our local Malaysian fighters will be chucked in the deep end and while most will sink those who swim will end up being local Malaysian heroes of the sport. So there you have it, sounds like a sound an awesome idea for Malaysian Invasion to implement. In any case, if you're interested in knowing more you can check them out at www.malaysianinvasion.com for more details!
